WSBR April Luncheon Featuring Aarti Holla-Maini, Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs
On Thursday, April 4, join the Washington Space Business Roundtable (WSBR) at Hogan Lovells LLP from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. for lunch and conversation with Aarti Holla-Maini, Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs.
In her role at UNOOSA, Ms. Holla-Maini leads a team responsible for fostering cooperation in peaceful exploration and use of space at a global level, including alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals in the areas of economic and social development.
Prior to joining UNOOSA in 2023, she most recently served as EVP of Sustainability, Policy, and Impact at NorthStar Earth and Space, a commercial company focused on earth imagery and space domain awareness. She served for over 18 years as the Secretary General of the Global Satellite Operators Association (GSOA), a global non-profit association of the entire satellite ecosystem that takes the lead in addressing global challenges, seizing opportunities, and providing a unified voice for the satellite industry.
In addition to these appointments, Ms. Holla-Maini’s has served as a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Space, member of the Advisory Group of the Space Sustainability Rating; member of the Satellite Industry Association of India’s advisory board; Senior Space Policy Adviser to Forum Europe, and as Expert Adviser on Space Traffic Management for European Union studies 2021-2023. She was also one of the chief architects of the Crisis Connectivity Charter established in 2015 for emergency telecommunications via satellite with the UN World Food Program’s Emergency Telecommunications Cluster.
Ms. Holla-Maini holds a bachelor’s degree in law with German law from Kings College London, UK, a master’s degree in business administration from HEC Paris, France, and she is also an alumna of the International Space University. She is fluent in English, French, German and Punjabi and has moderate knowledge of Dutch.
