WSBR’s Annual Flagship Luncheon & Auction
“Innovation and Disruption: An Investor’s Perspective”
Join us on March 13, 2018 for our annual Flagship Luncheon and Silent Auction. Since 2008, the Flagship Luncheon has been an annual tradition held in conjunction with the SATELLITE conference and exhibition. This year’s Flagship topic is: “Innovation and Disruption: An Investor’s Perspective,” where Jim Murray from investment firm PJT Partners will interview Alex Clavel, Head of M&A at SoftBank. With competition in the small satellite space greater today than ever before, Murray and Clavel will discuss market trends and opportunities for sector consolidation from an investment perspective.
Alex Clavel is head of M&A and corporate finance at SoftBank Group International. Prior to joining SoftBank, Alex was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley where he spent 19 years in Hong Kong, New York, Shanghai and Tokyo, focusing on M&A and media and communications investment banking. Mr. Clavel received a BA from Princeton University; speaks Mandarin Chinese, French and Japanese; and lives in Palo Alto, CA.
Jim Murray is a Partner at PJT Partners, leading the firm’s relationships with satellite communications ventures, aerospace primes, component suppliers, and remote sensing providers. Jim works closely with the entrepreneurs, investors, and regulators shaping the evolution of these sectors and has completed over 100 transactions in the “space space,” including mergers, leveraged buyouts, debt offerings, private placements, and IPOs
Jim previously spent 14 years at Morgan Stanley and 5 years at Monitor Company, a strategy consulting firm. Jim received an AB in Government from Harvard College and studied International Relations and Economics at the London School of Economics.
