2006 Scholarship Recipients

Washington, D.C., June 2006: The Board of Directors of the Washington Space Business Roundtable (WSBR) is pleased to announce the awarding of its 2006 scholarships of $4,000 each to: Daniel K.A. Jachowski and M. Ashley Whelan.

Ashely Whelan is an Astrophysics graduate from the University of Colorado At Boulder. She is a graduate student in Space Policy Institute at George Washington University. Whelan is interning at the Space Foundation’s Washington, D.C. Office. Her scholarship will used to attend the 2-month International Space University Summer Session in Strasbourg, France.

Daniel K.A. Jachowski was selected for the WSBR graduating scholarship based on his science fair project on GPS. He recently graduated from a public high school in Alexandria and will attend Standfor this fall.

Said WSBR Chair Eric Stallemer stated, that “educational efforts are core to the mission of the Roundtable, and we are delighted to have found two such highly qualified scholarship recipients this year.”

WSBR scholarship funds are raised and maintained through its annual spring “WSBR Flagship Lunch and Silent Auction, “ chaired this year by Eric Stallmer, Director of Government Relations, Analytical Graphics, Inc. (AGI).

The WSBR Board of Directors unanimously agreed to award scholarships of $4,000 each to Jachowski and Whelan following the recommendations and review of WSBR Education Committee chair Jerry Howe, and review by Neal Anderson, VP Spacecraft Systems of DigitalGlobe.
