2004 Scholarship Recipients

Washington, D.C., September 6, 2004; The Board of Directors of the Washington Space Business Roundtable is pleased to announce two recipients for its 2004 scholarship awards: Erin Fry and Andrei Munteanu.
Erin Fry graduated from South River High in Edgewater, MD. Fry was selected for her project on “Water on Mars: How Much Then, How Much Now?” She has worked for several years as an intern at NASA/Goddard and will be entering Harvard University this September as a freshman.
Andrei Munteanu graduated from Benjamin Banneker Academic High School in Washington, D.C. Munteanu was selected for his project “A Novel Algorithm for Computing the Minimum Distance between Two Elliptical Confocal Orbits.” He has worked as a summer intern at the U.S. Naval observatory and will also be entering Harvard as a freshman.
Following review and recommendation by the WSBR Education Committee, the WSBR Board of Directors unanimously agreed to award scholarships of $5,000 each to Fry and Munteanu for their freshman year of college.
WSBR scholarship funds are raised and maintained through its annual spring “Flagship Lunch and Silent Auction.”
