MISSION

The Washington Space Business Roundtable D.C., Inc. (WSBR) was established in 1985 to advance the commercialization of space through education, promotion and the interaction of professionals from the commercial space industry. As a non-profit entity, our range of interest includes everything from traditional government contracting to the growing world of satellite communications, launch services, remote sensing and other entrepreneurial areas.

WSBR members enjoy networking and direct access to prominent executives from business, government, academic institutions and the international community. At our exclusive luncheon events, leaders of the space community outline their plans for the future, discuss their organizations' activities and initiatives, and address important government issues. The private luncheon forums encourage the open exchange of ideas and information, and members are free to pose questions and delve further into the topics at hand.

As a charitable, 501(C)(3) organization, the WSBR also strives to develop the space-related interests and opportunities of young people in the Washington area. We award annual university scholarships to deserving students interested in space research and technology. We also take pride in introducing these students to our members, giving them the opportunity to explain their work and to begin networking in the space business community

.

Management and Non-Profit Status

The management of the WSBR is made up of volunteers from its paying members, with a Board of Directors selected annually. Administrative support is provided under contract by TSD Associates, which is funded from membership and event revenue.

The Board of Directors (currently eleven members) includes small committees of one to three members who work in specific support areas such as programming, membership and education. The Board and Committees use the Articles of Incorporation and the Bylaws as governing guidance, along with all formal resolutions and changes. The current members of the Board, and their organizational affiliations, are found in the Board Member section.

The WSBR is incorporated in the District of Columbia. An Application for Recognition under 501(c)(3) and associated forms were filed on June 3, 1991.
